88Nine Radio Milwaukee has joined forces with the Capitol360
Innovation Center for 88Nine Labs: Music Hackathon presented by Northwestern Mutual and powered by the Capitol360 Innovation Center. This Hackathon will take place the last weekend of Startup Week Milwaukee and will be held at the brand new Cream City Labs
inside Northwestern Mutual in downtown Milwaukee.
We invite developers, designers, and musicians to generate ideas for music discovery, music distribution, connecting fans with their favorite artists, how radio stations like 88Nine can help fans learn more about the music they love and discover new music.
Sandbox License: Developers will have pre-cleared access to 14k UMG audio streaming tracks. Artists included in this catalog include old and new, and cross-genre:
Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Imagine Dragons, Halsey, Rihanna, Maroon 5, Hans Zimmer, Andrea Bocelli, John Williams

- One winning team will receive a $1000 cash prize from Northwestern Mutual. $1000 will be split between team members.
- One winning team (up to five) will receive 11-day Summerfest Power Passes to the winning group.Each pass grants the bearer to one (1) admission per day to the festival grounds during operating hours, and is not valid for admission to the American Family Insurance Amphitheater shows.
- Two winning teams will receive a final round interview to participate in gener8tor’s 12-week Accelerator program with up to $90k in financing
- Two teams will recieve 1-year Cloudinary Plus plan for their most creative and best implementation hacks that use Cloudinary API' (https://cloudinary.com/
What is a Hackathon?
A hackathon is a building sprint where teams of students and community members build new products or hack at an existing problem in 24-hours. The event engages design, development, and marketing talent, hears their ideas, prioritizes solutions, and prototypes/experiments to discover if the solutions work. Participants pitch final projects at the end of 24-hours to a panel of industry professionals.
Who should participate?
This event is open to students, engineers, developers, designers, musicians and anyone with experience or interest in music tech and the music industry are invited to attend.
